Steven A. Schuetz

Steve joined Lindsay, Pickett & Postel as Senior Counsel in February 2024 in the firm’s Insurance Defense Department. His practice focuses primarily on complex insurance defense litigation including, but not limited to, construction liability, premises liability, and motor vehicle defense.  Steve also handles UM/UIM and first party property claims.

Prior to joining the firm, Steve worked for a plaintiff/petitioner firm for several years and then was an attorney for a national insurance company where he worked for over 10 years and was a regional attorney for their Special Investigative Unit.  In that role, Steve handled suspicious claims and fraud claims (first and third party) and filed affirmative litigation on behalf of the insurance company.  He defended lawsuits including, but not limited to: wrongful death; trucking and automobile accidents; premises liability; product liability; construction site accidents; workers compensation cases; UM/UIM; and cases involving complex scientific issues and medical and billing issues.  Steve has successfully defended high exposure personal liability and commercial liability lawsuits, tried cases to verdict, and has been successful at the appellate level.

Outside of the law firm, Steve enjoys spending time with his wife and their rescue animals.  Steve enjoys gardening, barbecuing, classic cars, and watching sports.

Steve is licensed to practice in the State of Illinois and the Northern District of Illinois and has a Ph.D. in chemistry.
